TVB insists on original all-women audience approach for 'MR. HK' despite male group protests

TVB insists on original all-women audience approach for 'MR. HK' despite male group protests

TVB's Mr. Hong Kong has gotten involved in male rights, where a group of males protest on the sex discrimination. Yesterday Legislative Council member (Wong Kwok Hing), a group of concerning Hong Kong gentlemen, the Equal and Justice Association and the Love Family and Parents Association jointly filed complaints to the Equal Opportunities Commission. They were dissatisfied with their response and are now considering to start a protest on TVB.

The men feel that both sexes should be equal. TVB should not have an all-women panel of judges and the touching of the contestants are out of control. It is sexual harassment and is not respectful. They only ask for the elected Mr. Hong Kong to be able to make Hong Kong proud. Actually in the last several years, they have showed their dissatisfaction to TVB and only asked for 10 tickets, but TVB ignored it, so they started this complaint. The men strongly stressed that their actions is absolutely gentlemen and reasonable. But, on TVB's side production has not been affected due to this incident.

Yesterday the 10 Mr. HK contestants attended the promotional event as usual and did not get affected by the protest. Among them, William Chak (#10) won the "charming" award live on the spot, and has an opportunity to give the guest Alvina Kong a kiss. Towards the protest on sex discrimination, as a hot favorite William said: "I have no comment, this is TVB's policy. Every person has their own perspective. (Do you feel that an all-woman judging system is unfair?) No because it is the contest's requirements, if going to participate then going have to follow the policies. (If there is an amendment for some male audience?) I don't mind, it is just like doing a show, just as long as their willing to come into the show and watch, do not need to worry about what kind of people they are or what nationality. (Did TVB prohibit the guest from touching?) I haven't been notified yet, I personally won't avoid it, shaking hands is a generous act. (The group of protesting men have no dignity?) I won't assess them, it is not for me to say."

TVB Foreign Affairs Director (Tsang Sing Ming) said, that night the recording studio will maintain an all-female audience. The Olympian City and other venues includes both men and women. TVB has heard about the public opinions, but the production being an all-women audience is the program's characteristics, and insist on continuing with the original approach.

Tavia Yeung fears getting diarrhea from being a lawyer

Tavia Yeung fears getting diarrhea from being a lawyer

Tavia Yeung, Louise Lee, Natalie Tong and Ruco Chan attended TVB new series The Truth (真相) costume fitting. This time it is Tavia's first time playing a lawyer, being able to really get a taste of being a lawyer Tavia feels excited. She expressed that lately she's been instructor and police roles, she admitted: "I don't have the skills, even if I studied all my life, I still may not have the opportunity to wear a lawyer's outfit."

In the series, her lawyer lines are very long, she said she felt pressure when filming for Beyond the Realm of Conscience: "I fear the great pressure, I will get diarrhea." There will be several different stories in this series where Tavia's role gets involved in a romantic relationship with Kenneth Ma, Raymond Wong and Ruco Chan.

Yesterday Louise was often wiping away tears, she expressed that it was due to make-up getting in her eye when she was removing it. This time, Louise's role often gets beat by her husband, she said: "I don't understand why some women don't leave even if they're getting beat. Women who encounter such situation cannot just hold it in, I do want to look into a case related to this. (Ask Amigo Chui?) His case is involved with an argument, that is not the same. They case is related to emotional appeal, but if getting tormented daily then should break up."

Also, this is the first series where Ruco gets the most screen time since his return to TVB. This time being an upright lawyer, he frankly said that he is pressured.

Steven Ma understands the suffers of a firemen

Steven Ma understands the suffers of a firemen

Steven Ma and Elaine Yiu arrived at the fire department training school for recording of TVB game show Neighborhood Treasures 2: Summer Fun. For the game, Steven and Elaine had to collectively carry a 25 pound "sand bag dummy" for a hurdle. Eventually they comfortably passed the test, but later Steven had to carry a 120 pound dummy. Once Steven tried, he could not help but to admire the firemen: "Turns out it's really heavy, I can imagine in a real fire, have to rescue a 100+ pound unconscious person, that is something hard to do!"

Also, Steven injured his right eye a few years ago due to filming, to avoid too much sun exposure and having to lose his retina, Steven had to wear super protection sunglasses

TVB plagiarizes again, Linda Chung watches the Mainland drama series to learn about her role

TVB plagiarizes again, Linda Chung watches the Mainland drama series to learn about her role

Following Beauty Knows No Pain and The Mysteries of Love accused of plagiarism, TVB plagiarizes again. This time it's Mainland popular drama Dwelling Narrowness (蝸居), the TVB version will start next month tentatively titled Men & Women Chooses Residence (抉宅男女) (TN: that's direct translation.). The four leading stars Linda Chung, Joyce Tang, Ron Ng and Michael Tse will be entangled in a relationship, while Michael Miu and Sonjia Kwok are a pair. In the series, Linda's role is almost exactly the same as Dwelling's "Hai Zao", both is not hesitant to make immoral transactions to get up top.

Nelson Cheung, the series producer, responded to the obvious plagiarism, he does not feel it's a problem: "Have to share and promote the good stuff. The new series is about housing conflicts. Shanghai and Hong Kong are the same, citizens living in houses face personal problems and the series reveals a secret to the Hong Kong viewers."

As for Linda who was busy filming for Yes Sir, No Sir earlier said yesterday that she already got the Dwelling Narrowness DVDs and plans to watch the series after work: "Producer said this clearly, told me to put in the effort and watch Hao Zao's character. (Obvious plagiarism?) I am talking about artists, it is our responsibility to act out the role well."

Sonjia Kwok does not know if she'll accept the series, but she said if she can work with Michael Miu, she feels honored. She said: "I have worked with him before in Au Revoir Shanghai, but I already died right when the series started. (Plagiarisms?) The world is a big copy, the Western Infernal Affairs is copied from Hong Kong too!"
